Zinc, nickel and palladium are also used to “whiten” the gold; rose or red gold is achieved by adding more copper alloy to the gold and has a rich rosy vintage hue; and green gold, though less common than rose or white gold, is sometimes used to create subtle details, and is affected by using a cadmium and silver alloy.
